Big Storm Coming

They are saying this could be the biggest storm in our life time, winds up to 115 mph. I'll probably lose power for a week or so.

We've gone into temporary winter mode. We put away pool and deck furniture, lawn ornaments and pretty much anything else that could take off. We checked out the generator and fuse panel so were all set with power and as far as food is concerned I never stock up since there's always plenty in the fridge. I also filled several plastic jugs with tap water too.

Good luck to everyone and stay safe.

Dodged my sister down in florida so I'm happy. Good luck to those, however, haven't been spared.

I don't want to sound mean, but how do you tell someone good luck when they refuse to evacuate? It's sad for those who can't, but there are those that just refuse to evacuate.

I don't get you.
Just say "good luck".  It's their personal choice, and yeah they're probably fools and idiots, but you can still be polite to them about it.
Then you can vent about it online.

When Hurricane Rita, a Cat. 5 storm with record breaking low pressure of 895mb (26.43 Hg) and sustained winds of 180mph was bearing down on Houston in 2005, people here fled for their lives. Houston traffic is ALMOST as big a headache as LA traffic, but evacuation traffic was at a standstill. We tried to evacuate, but after waiting on the same spot on the freeway for 5 hours with only being able to move about 100 yards, we took the nearest exit off the freeway and U-turned home. 7 people died on the evacuation of Rita, which was more than the actual storm casualties for Houston. At the VERY last minute, the storm veered off to the east right at the Texas/Louisiana border.

Then, when Hurricane Ike came on Sept. 13, 2008, we decided to not even attempt to evacuate. Knocked our power out for 8 1/2 day. We were lucky though. Some lost power for up to 6 weeks, and the neighborhood next to mine had trees crashed through houses. Ike jumped to the number 2 spot in "Most Costliest Storms Ever," at $29.5 billion, just second to Katrina's $108 billion. Oh, and there was an unusually high spike in births in June of 2009... lol!

So yeah, good luck, and GOD SPEED! It's actually kinda fun hearing all the winds and such during the storm. And I think it was a lot more peaceful without the buzz of electricity for awhile.

For some reason I thought you lived in Texas. But yea, everything needs to get put away. I put my motorcycle in the storage unit, and the grills and bicycles will go in the van.

We need a storm Soupe!
