so back to Vignettes, which level of the set officially kicked your @$$? Where you felt the challenge was just too insane. (yet you still loved it? )

Game over on level 22.

This was soon after it was released though, and I'm better now, but I haven't really tried again.
Going to try it in coop so I don't have to worry about lives.

I dunno, a lot of the later levels have been really kicking me in the butt.

Speaking of which, I still need to finish playing through...I think I'm really close though, at the very least only a couple levels away if not less from the end.

If I recall, level 19 was a mean one. Level 21 was difficult initially but gets easier past the blue door. Level 25 is hard only at the final boss. Too cramped! lol

Level 25 was nothing cuz I had some invulnerabilities and cloaking devices set aside. Now, Level 19, however, made me so paranoid that from that point on, I started saving as frequently as I do in my emulated games! lol

Try playing the level 25 boss without an inventory and he becomes a totally different beast altogether.

I've learned that as handy the inventory is to have, it does take away the challenge sometimes and make things too easy. It's good practice to try and go without it every now and then, adds to your Descenting skills.

I would try it but my keyboard does not tri-chord. I wonder if there's a command switch in D2X-XL that allows for tri-chording. If so... I will COLD START Vignettes Level 19 with MODs enabled on INSANE and NEVER die!!!

if your keyboard can't handle trichording due to ghosting, ect... I don't think any software will allow you to do so without changing your key configuration, assuming that you aren't simply hitting a key limit.

Would it make a difference if I bought a different keyboard and hooked it up to this laptop?

Provided it has no keypress limits, and depending on your key config, is jamming/ghosting free, then yeah, probably.

In my experience, it usually is the keyboard and not the program/computer, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm right.

I beat Vignettes on insane with no inventory, its possible. Granted, I had about 2 shields left by the time I reached that exit door! The robots he spawns are far more dangerous than the boss itself it seems! Esp. when they are all that is standing between you and the exit! BLARG! lol
