I'm shocked to see that Netscape is providing more hits than Safari, and that Opera is so unpopular in comparison to Firefox and IE. I use Firefox 3.5, but I'm about to download and swap to Opera. Also, another thing interesting to note is the lack of any real Google Chrome presence here. I'm also kinda surprised to see such low numbers for Linux... I use Windows 8 mostly but I do have Linux Mint 8 Helena on this laptop and know many Descenters who use Linux as well.
I, for one, hope this is much, much more than a reconnaissance mission.

Windows 8

They decided that windows 7 needs to be redone already? :P

And I'm sure at least one of those IE 5.5 visits were from me screwing around in a Windows 3.1 virtual machine.

I can understand people being reluctant to upgrade to the newest IE, but there is no excuse for using IE 5 or 6. That how Google got hacked recently in china, through a vulnerability in IE6. So Microsoft has agreed to patch this, but If people aren't taking advantage of upgrading to a decent browser, are they going to install a patch?

I'm thinking he meant IE 8 ... if not then probably Windows 7 ... but he also says he's usually using Linux which does not have IE anything.

Clarification: I meant I ordinarily use Windows 7 (with Firefox 3.5) on this laptop. That's mainly a school decision since I can get 8 hours of battery life using Windows (and I prefer to play games on it). Otherwise, if my girlfriend didn't have my desktop right now and Linux could take advantage of Intel Centrino power-consumption technology, I'd use it exclusively. Unfortunately, Linux Mint only gets about 3:30 on the battery due to full screen brightness and full CPU and graphics performance.

IMHO, while Firefox 3.5 is indeed a good browser, there are just some things that keep it from being great. Namely, after several hours of use, I've noticed that it starts eating resources and running really slow, especially on Facebook. I have a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo with 4GB RAM. Don't know why it needs 75% of the memory to run Facebook after two hours or so of online time.

Honestly, Windows lacks a really stellar browser, though I can't speak for Google Chrome as of yet. I'm really liking the way Opera looks since I've been using it at work tho.  ;D
