Sim City 4 No CD

For x-mas I got The Sim City Box witch includes Sim City 4 Deluxe. At start up it make checks for the CD. Sim City 4 Deluxe is available on Steam. is there any way to use steam for no CD purposes.

I decided just to use a no CD patch. but when I try to Install Sim city societies It cant read group 2.gyr (or at least I think its .gyr) I'm runing win 7 x64 and I'm getting one of those error messages with ignore retry and cancel buttons.
