I've been making a new soundtrack for Descent 2: The Enemy Within. From what DFW told me, I believe that once it's finished it will be the "official" soundtrack for the mission (though it will need to be downloaded separately due to its huge size. I've finished about 15 of the songs and posted nine in the gallery here. They all have a screenshot of the level they were made for.
Have a listen to them and tell me what you think.

Also, since TEW is going to be the main campaign for D2X-XL if it gets released as a standalone program, this is technically the official soundtrack for D2X-XL too.
The album is called "Descent Dreams", which was the name of TEW level 17 and also pretty much describes what a standalone D2X-XL would try to re-create.

Nice tracks you got there. Pinhead N.I.P. is very good indeed.
Hope to see the new TEW finally released with all the new stuff, including this new soundtrack! :)

I'm now done the level 6 music: http://www.planetdescent.net/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=item;id=114 (http://www.planetdescent.net/index.php?action=mgallery;sa=item;id=114)

Cool.
No I didn't know that, I'll use it next time for sure.
Does it work on other boards too, or just here?
-
Well it's kind of odd, first I put it in a code block to show the code used, but it didn't show the code, showed the player. Then I put it just on the page but that just gave a link. (hold my beer I'm gonna try something...)
(No items to show)
OK, that worked... I guess you can't have two in the same post. But it did not respect the code block.
(No items to show)
So you can have two embeds in a post maybe just not two to the same resource?
(No items to show)
Yep, that's it. one to each item per post. Or maybe per page or per thread, but I won't spam up you thread with anymore testing, sorry 'bout that. ;)

Do I just copy the code from the gallery, or do I need code tags (as in code, /code with square brackets)?
-
Just copy the code and paste it as-is.

I'm done the level 8 music: "Lockdown".
-
Level 11 music: Cogs
-
Level 2 music: "Timewinder"
-
2 things:
First, the level 25 music, "Out of the Ashes" is done:
(the name is a reference to a certain mythical bird)
Second, I've figured out (with Pumo's help) how to emulate the sound of the old OPL2/Adlib game music (the old "FM" sound) using a couple of FL native synths (one synth is for instruments, another synth is for drums). So this soundtrack is going to have an OPL2 style version as well. I've tested it so far with five of the songs from TEW and the third song on Splintered Sanity (I wanted to have an OPL2 mix of track 3 as a bonus track), and it seems to work consistently. It's also really fast and easy, so I may just do all the rest of the FM mixes after all the music is done.

Level 7 song: "Atlantis"
Kind of a creepy, mysterious, underwater feel.
-
Level 15 music is up. I don't want to sound vain, but I think I did the level (of utter epicness) justice (I know I tried really hard to make the song awesome).
"In Flames":
(No items to show)
Rather Sonic-esque.
Based a little bit on some of Pumo's songs, but I played up the "rock" feel to greater proportions because the level is a lava level and a boss level... the music should be intense.
-
Very Good! 8) :)
-
nicely done. I like what I'm hearing.
-
Thanks.
Lockdown is probably the best so far. Both my brother and my friend think so.
-
And yet another one:
Spinner, theme of level 5. Only one more boss song to do now.
(No items to show)
Pretty good mastering here, imo.
Also the fact that level 5 has music means that level 10 will likely use Power of Insanity (as I'm pretty confident that I can do music for level 1, level 23, and level 26. Level 14 may pose a challenge, but it could always use Cogs if I make something else to fit level 11. Cogs fits both mines).
-
Hey Alter!. I made an OGG version of Clear Ice Love for TEW as you asked for (I think this time is a bit less louder).
Will upload it and send to you as soon as possible. :)
-
Thanks Pumo.
You wouldn't happen to have any insights into what the level 14 music should sound like would you? All I can think of is a ticking clock in the background (because the exit run is what makes that level so infamous), but at the high tempos where I record my songs, it's hard to get that kind of a sequence to sound right.
-
Wow, Alterfox!
After listening to some of your TEW OSTs, I must say you did a great job, especially Out of the Ashes! I can't wait until the OST lineup is done.
-
The level 14 music is done! And this was the level where I didn't have any idea what the music should be like... until yesterday :P.
"Clockwork":
Only 3 more songs to go!
-
Another one:
Level 23 music
"Into Darkness"
Techno-style D&B that manages to sound both playful and evil at the same time. I'd make a cat comparison but I don't want to offend any cat-lovers.
The name is a play on the level title, see if you can figure it out.
-
Another new one
"Paradise Star"
[Limit reached]
Theme of Level 1: The-level-with-an-impossible-to-spell-name.
I'm working fast because I have exams soon, so in about a week all I'll be doing is studying, and I want to be done this soundtrack before then.
-
All right, I have absolutely no ideas for what I could make to do justice to level 26. However, I think there are a couple of Pumo's songs that could work, and I'll ask him on his forum as soon as his site is working again. I have everything else worked out, even credits music (though I'm not telling what it is :P).
