Hai Gize!! ;)
Haven't been around in quite some time... Last I logged in was... Probably a year ago or more. In that time, I've gotten married, started a career, and purchased a house and two cars. Most unfortunately, I haven't touched PlanetDescent - or Descent at all - since then.
But now that my wife has a job and I'm often stuck at home, I've got a modicum of free time to devote to gaming ;D
So.... What's up, friends? What have I missed? Any cool new projects/levels/multiplayer parties/random crap going on as of late? I've been missing my friends here on the interwebz for a while now, and I'd like to catch up. :)
/me is procrastinating on cleaning the bathrooms right now.

Congrats on getting married, D2J! :D

All together now: "Awwww!!" You guys look great together.
P.S. Just a tip: Get the bathrooms cleaned, and do a little something extra for your wife before she comes home. It pays rewards, and not just in having a clear conscience while you do some gaming. ;)

Back to your question:
The biggest/newest Descent-ish thing you might have missed is probably Cadenza Interactive (http://cadenzainteractive.com/)'s new 6DoF shooter, "Retrovirus" (http://cadenzainteractive.com/games/retrovirus/). It's actually really far along; it has fully-implemented controls (including joystick) and fully-working multiplayer, and it is slated for full release in December. I've only had a few minutes to play around with it, but it's definitely worth looking into. :)

Though time will tell if it has the ability to turn off antialiasing for lower-end computers that can do pretty much anything except antialiasing...
Welcome back and congrats! Have you got wedding photos?
And speaking of Descent-like projects, Miner Wars has multiplayer now and it's also in beta. :o

Congrats, D2J, and welcome back!

Congratulations, D2Junkie, on achieving what some consider to be simultaneously the best and worse thing to happen in life :P Just kidding, but seriously congrats.

Congrats and welcome back, it's good to hear from you.

Welcome back D2Junkie! I'd add something to the list of Descent-related things you've missed, but I think everybody's gotten it all already.

Foil: The whole house was clean by the time she made it home, and I had dinner ready, too. So, things turned out pretty well :D
IHateHackers: Definitely the second best thing in life. First is my faith. But nothing makes for a close third. ;)
Everyone else: Thanks for the warm welcome back!
I had not heard of Retrovirus, but I'm definitely interested. Only problem: Requires an nVidia GeForce 8800. I have a 8600. Go figure.
I actually downloaded the beta/demo of Miner Wars 2081, and I am extremely impressed thus far. That said, it's unplayable on my system (1-2 FPS) ... My guess is that it's related to my ancient P4 processor. Going to order a Presler Pentium D 3.0GHz tomorrow and see what that does to the performance of my computer. Performance with my video card was excellent when I had a (first gen) Core 2 Duo machine where I used to work, but it's pretty poor on mine... So I think I just need a good dual-core processor running at a good speed to get this machine up to speed.

Welcome back! Nothing exciting in my life. Roughly the same.
