There's something seriously wrong with this.  It sounds like some bizzare kind of delay effect got transferred to every sound in the song.

Can you be more specific? Also, what are you listening on?

Edit: If no one else can hear this, are you sure you didn't just open two instances by mistake?

I don't think there's anything wrong with it. I think it sounds just divine!

Sounds right to me. Very old school. This is how I remember it sounding originally on it's native MS-DOS systems back in the day... :D

I wanted to be as true to the original as possible but with much higher fidelity, since a long term (and often procrastinated) goal is to remaster the entire sound track for use with D2X-XL and such. I sampled the original midi in a few places with the default windows synth, did some post processing, and blended those sounds in along with higher fidelity instruments to hide the lower quality while still hopefully sounding nostalgic.

Eventually I want to grab some old computer parts out of my parent's basement and build something that lets me sample more authentic midi sounds, but the windows synth wasn't too terrible for the specific sounds I took from it.

I would love to hear what you do with Game07... Back in the day when I had a Windows 98 Gateway computer, I had THE most awesome sound card on that thing. It made the OPL3s sound absolutely divine! The Bass in Game07 was not all farty sounding, but rather like, a really good bass sound, yet not at all like the intended slap bass. I can't explain it... I haven't heard anything like it in any modern sound fonts to date.
