I voted for others. Not exactly singular "who," but a group.

Furries! Because they are EVERYWHERE! They are technically integrated into everyday society (I kid you not) and almost every other item up there has a furry version.

And he says the "Ultimate Internet Icon" should be more along the line of:

Or perhaps it's more along the lines of THIS! (click if you dare).

I'm surprised Nyan Cat's not on there.

Or, for that matter, these guys (or gals. Mostly gals.):

:P

And that reminds me of this:

Call of Duty fanboy. Yeah, I think I want to change my vote. But then again, there's a furry version of that.

Much as I love Monty Python and Star Trek, those are certainly not 'Internet Icons'. In fact have little to do with internet. Actualy most of what has been suggested are not really what I would consider good internet icons, let alone ultimate.

A good number of the ones listed in the poll I haven't even heard of. But then again, when it comes to memes and the such, I typically seem to be among the last to find out about them.  ::)

You're probably right, though. Most of these probably aren't "ultimate."

Though I am honestly surprised no one mentioned Nyan Cat before I did. And I never really liked Nyan Cat to begin with...

An icon is something that should remind you of whatevwer the icon is an icon of. So, for example PD's icon is the silliouette of a pyro. So if you haven't been here isn a while and you are browsing your bookmarks, you see the pyro and it reminds you of Descent.

What would remind me of the internet? Maybe a globe with data traveling around it?

There seems to be a bit of a misunderstanding about what NUMBERZero has asked us.  The thread title says "Ultimate Internet Icon" yet the content (and poll selections) are asking about characters who became popular through the Internet.  I'd assume they can be real or fictional characters.

WillyP pointed out that some of our postings are/were characters that did NOT become popular through the Internet.  After that, Vanguard and WillyP discussed "Internet icons" in the literal sense of a icon (symbol representing something) ... along that line I present:

Having done that ... Getting back to iconic characters of the Internet, I'm surprised no one has mentioned this:
Dancing Baby

... but that may be a bit 'old' for some of you, so I present...

This very iconic character of the Internet
  ;D
