I have to say they make a pretty good argument.

It's all true. So very true. I raged over how weak and pathetic Mario is.

I had never really thought about it until I read this article, and I realized that, y'know, they've got a point. I wouldn't want to be Mario either.

Ditto.
Although I always liked him, I never thought about Bowser that way and yeap, it's all true.
This just makes me like Bowser even more
(Not that I dislike Mario either, but...)

I admit, even I like Mario ... and I wouldn't want to be him either though I think my reasons may be different, perhaps.
Reasons I wouldn't want to be Mario:
Speech impediment. Anybody actually understand what he says? (be honest!)
Vertically challenged. No offense to anybody, it's just that Mario is possibly the shortest of all the adult human like people
No family except his brother. Always pursuing (or simply nearby) Princess Peach, nothing more. Doomed to be a bachelor?

It's not just that, not only is he hard to understand (but actually not that hard) he doesn't say much at all. In the games these days, the most you hear from him are the variety of grunts he makes while playing the game, and not much more than that. It's gotten to the point that Mario's near-muteness has become a running gag of sorts in the more RPG-natured Mario games.

Here we go! Super Mario Bros. Crossover. You can select any number of different characters including Samus, Mega Man, Link, the guy from Contra, and the guy from Castlevania. There are a couple others, but I don't really know them.
This is living proof that Mario is a wuss. For example, take Samus and get to the castle to blast bowser with your missiles!

(I wish they had Zero from Mega Man Xtreme)

I beat it with Samus and when Peach said "Thank you, Samus! Your quest is over," this is what immediately came to mind.

Dear Princess Peach,
You are a stereotypical damsel in distress. You may not have a kick-ass power suit like I do, but you should at least invest in perhaps some personal defense courses and a firearm.
Your obvious UNDYING gratitude is appreciated, but it is time to pay the piper: $50,000
Additional bounty fees and killing Bowser with mah lulzy missiles: Over nine trillion billion million thousand hundred ten one dollars.
You suck.
Sincerely,
Samus Aran (NOT, damsel in distress)
