Why is it that everyone thinks a unicorn has to be associated with magic?  I'd kind of like to see a unicorn that shoots missiles from the horn on it's head.   You know, just point and shoot. 

My point exactly -- we have no idea.  And I'm sorry, but a fictional show just isn't good enough .

I can't survive....watching five seconds of it. It's....different! What do they do all day? What is the point or the plot? What's the danger? Who's the bad guy? Why?

Must listen to mood music and get my mind thinking reasonably again.

I think that's everybody's reaction at first, and there are more than one episode where it isn't at all as "girly" as you'd expect, but just flat-out entertaining. In fact, I swear whoever wrote

...which was to say (jokingly) that I didn't intend on actually admitting that I was enjoying the show, at least initially.

Um, a little like The Trouble with Tribbles, but I would say more like Gremlins.
