D3Edit (Atan) missing verts?
«
on:

I recently had this crazy urge to install Descent 3 and fly around again. I downloaded the latest D3Edit Atan version (AV - which I guess is a couple years old now) and it loads and opens levels just fine. The weird thing is, I don't see vertices. I can press V to cycle through them, I can even select and move them, but I just don't see them.
I
do
see them in the standard 1.0 editor and OtherOne's 1.1 Beta 8, but not Atan's. I've tried running it in different compatibility modes (this is Vista) to no avail. Any thoughts?

Just for my info, which AV(xx) version did you download and where?
I'm currently working at AV41T35(dev), trying to fix some problems if D3Edit is running with Windows7 64bit ( D3Edit is still is a 32bit program...)
I hope I can fix stated problems with Windows7 64bit soon. I will make AV41 available if it seems running fine then asap.

It was the one in the thread at Descentforum.de where every link seemed to lead. The one I have is AV40.
I haven't encountered any major issues under Vista 64 yet.

Thx for the info!
Please try Texturebar->Texturepalette->check lava or flythrough. Should flicker with W7 64bit then. (be aware, could be you need ctrl+alt+del)
If there is no flickering so this bug came with AV41 first, would be good to know this.
Since AV40 there are, beside some new stuff, a lot minor changes inside D3Edit. I don't believe that "seeing no verts due first start" is still inside.

If you go to the Texture Palette and check Fly/Pass Thru Textures and then Lava Textures, yes, it does flicker and lock-up when the "paging in texture" dialog appears on Vista x64.

For Vista/7, one thing you might try is turning off the "Enable Desktop Composition" setting (in Advanced System Settings). That seems to help with the flickering in the CAD apps I use and develop.

Hey welcome. I thought you were done with Descent... (though I'm not done with your levels...)
