As an occasional trackmania player m'self, I get it, it's just that it's not really all that funny. 

I think it's a case of "you had to be there" for it to be humorous.

I've played Trackmania singleplayer, and I can't say I get it either.

You should try it online.  And if you're just playing stadium (i.e. Nations) you don't know what you're missing.

No, I have United Forever via GameTap's service...which I should probably get back to at some point, as I was slowly (and sometimes angrily) slogging my way through the harder medal challenges lat time I picked it up.  I don't know that I'd be all that interested in the multiplayer side of things, since I'm not much of a multiplayer gamer in general.
