After careful consideration of all the entries,   I am pleased to announce NUMBERZero has won the January 2010 Planet Descent Contest.

here's what I ended up doing before losing interest:



Simpler, but at least I followed the rules of depth

(for those of you that can't see it, that's the D1 level 27 boss behind the hills)

Rules of depth??? not sure what you mean by that. I think it was pretty open to whatever someone wanted to do.

NOW! This gets a little crazy. YOU ARE SUPPOSED TO BE LISTENING TO CERTAIN MUSICS AT CERTAIN POINTS! Oh boy.


You don't have to listen to the musics and just read the thing, but if you do want to roll with it, here are the instructions.



CHAPTER 1-2



CHAPTER 3 and 1st HALF of 4



CHAPTER 4 and 2nd HALF of 4 (I didn't really have anything good, so I went with a Metroid Prime Hunters song. If I find anything better, I'll use that)

The "Rules of Depth" was just a sarcastic comment as I tried to make things look like they were part of the scene. The sunrise, or "explosion" is behind the hills, which means that the dying boss makes sense back there, smaller, as he's part of the background

And then zero just went the lazy route and put everything over the image. If the base image was 1.5-2x large, with the added things at the same scale though, it may have worked

If you had said 'bold' or 'lacking subtlety' that I, at least, could understand. But lazy? No. C'mon, he put far more work into this than anyone else.

What kind of contest would people be interested in?
