* Scyphi thinks about Zantor's proposed desktop pic for a moment...

Personally, I think it'd look even better without the text, but that's just me. :)

Sorry for posting off-topic, but I'm curious where to find this free copy of Mechwarrior 4. Like Pyro, all I could find is the Crysis mod.
I, for one, hope this is much, much more than a reconnaissance mission.

As far as I can tell it is yet to be released. It is supposed to be provided by MekTek.net and by distributed by BattleTech.com

Enough derailing the thread! This is not where you guys should talk about Mechwarrior!

I think I'll do a drop shadow; I'll tweak it to get it to look right. Thank you for your input.

Hey... who's the one off-topic? ;) Anyway... what's wrong with the drop shadow I gave it?

Interesting. I gotcha now.

BTW: I was the one to change the sign for humor's sake. I take it my attempt failed.  ;)

I think we need to start a January Desktop now that it's halfway through January.

lol... The first is placed between some rolling stock on a siding and the mainline. If for some reason the cars start rolling they will become derailed before rolling out onto the mainline.

I believe it's called thread hijacking

I wouldn't say that, the conversation has simply wandered off track. A thread-jacking would be when, for example, a topic is started to ask advice on a crashed harddrive and someone is helping them, all of a sudden someone else comes in and starts relating there problem with a harddrive. It may be a sound like the same problem but they are taking away from the help the OP would be getting, and possibly confusing the people who are trying to help.

Well, it's a fine line... posting a pic and asking for help with it is a bit off topic, might be considered thread jacking... but if he is planning to use it for a wallpaper maybe it's on topic. And as they say, 'no harm, no foul'.

And besides: thread derailment is a tradition at PD.  ;D

But seriously: don't hesitate to realign the thread if it's going way off track. I don't think anyone here had the intention of being unhelpful or ignorant, Zantor. My apologies.  :)
