Announcing the January 2010 Descent Contest
« on: January 10, 2010, 08:46:01 AM »
The new PD contest is a two part contest...

Take this image and alter it. Then write a short story around it!

What is going on in this pic? Well, it's really a jet aircraft leaving an airport at sunrise... but with a little imagination and digital manipulation it could be a Pyro leaving a mine after blowing the reactor, or it could be... well, I'll leave that to you! ;)

What should the story be about? It doesn't have  to take place in the Descent world, although it would be great if it did.

You are welcome to collaborate with others, in fact encouraged...

Entries can be pm'd to WillyP or TechPro. Stories must not  be published prior to the deadline. The deadline for entries is February 14. The winner will receive a digital trophy in a custom made level.

Thomas, you've done a fine job altering the picture, I hardly recognize it. And your story had me on the edge of my seat, all the way through, both words.  ;)

However, I regret having to tell you this, but your entry is hereby disqualified, as you are in violation of this rule: "Stories must not  be published prior to the deadline."

You may, of course, submit another entry.

Ok, I have to take it obviously: I didn't win. ;)

Did NumberZero win again?
Where's his story, and was it better than mine?

Hehe. You're disqualified now because you violated the rule not to disclose your story before the deadline.  ;D

You can disclose the story without publishing it... The idea, is to have people write a new story, not rehash one that's been published elsewhere.

Maybe that's just a teaser...

one can hope...

Here are a few questions.

1) If this is the "January 2010 Descent Contest," why is the deadline in February? I don't think it takes that long to photoshop this picture.

2) Who is making somethin and who is done?
I was done about 2 days after this was announced.

If everyone who wants to be in and is done, can we set the deadline to this month?
