Happy Birthday Descent
« on: December 15, 2009, 04:50:20 AM »
To the best of my knowledge today, December 15th 2009,  is the 15th  anniversary for the release of the first shareware version of Descent.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DESCENT! :D
There are times you strive for greatness, to reach lofty goals and accomplish
noble deeds. Then there’s the rest of the times you just want to blow s--- up.

Fifteen years? Crazy. Proof that you don't have to have long, drawn out storylines, varied mission design, or state-of-the-art graphics to make a game that withstands the test of time. Just really big guns and point values.  ;D
I, for one, hope this is much, much more than a reconnaissance mission.

Oh? It wasn't Matt Toschlog?

Ok, quick! Which one is the Creator of Descent?

I see your point, there is a bit of a resemblance, as sacrilegious as that sounds... :P

Happy birthday Descent! :D

Of course, it's a moot point anyway as the second pic is really just an artist following common stereotypes as to what Jesus Christ looked like.

And now it is time for D2Junkie's Plethora of Mostly Useless Knowledge Teaching Time!

Actually, Jesus' hair was most likely short or completely shaven. Jewish culture frowned upon men having long hair unless a child was undergoing a "Nazarite vow," in which a razor would not touch the child's head while in service to God. That said, a Nazarite vow usually only lasted months to a year, and had Jesus taken a vow, it would not have likely lasted into adulthood. According to Paul, a converted Jew contributing much of the Bible shortly after Jesus' death (<50 years), it was considered shameful for women to have anything but long hair, and for men to have anything but short hair.

Therefore, I'm sure Matt looks very little like Jesus. Still a hilarious post though, WP. +1 for that!  ;D
I, for one, hope this is much, much more than a reconnaissance mission.

Thanks for the +1, I needed that, as Scyphi was catching up to me. Especially after I had to +1 him for correctly identifying which pic is of Matt.  ;)
