Topic: New Icons

I'll post the icons I've made for the forums here. Tell me what you think:

New posts in forum: shield orb

No new posts in forum: gray shield orb

I would like the first one: 'shield orb'.
It's just easier to see, ...for my eyes...

What I meant was that the blue "Shield orb" would be used for the forums that contain new posts, and the "Gray shield orb" would be used for the forums that do not contain any new posts. Sorry if that was confusing.

Works for me.

I was thinking of something like a Pyro entering a warp jump with the "no new posts" being an asteroid rock. ... But I hadn't started making anything.

I like the blue and grey shields.

I could do something like that, but I guess I like uniformity, so I had the idea of a blue and gray shield. An easy-to-understand, clear demarcation of new-post and no-new-post forums. 

But, hey, variety is the spice of life, so I will slap together something and see what happens.

I didn't read that careful as I should, sorry.
Same Icon for old and new post, the new one -> bright. That's fine.
Maybe I'm wrong, but IMO no need for (lots of) animated stuff, if you poss. think over that.

I like the shields, too. (+1 Power-up for D2Junkie for creating them. ) And I agree about animated stuff, gets old too quick!

Anywho, I noticed that we've started using them. I hosted them on Imageshack.us... Were the icons downloaded and used or were they linked directly? I'd hate to use them for a month and then have a broken link to our forum icons.

What exactly do the power-ups do, anyway? Are they just like thumbs-up and thumbs-down ratings? Or do they do more?

Well, if you right click and view image on them, you would see they are on the server... and renamed to match the script. Power up/down are karma, thumbs up/down, whatever you want to call them. for example, I gave D2Junkie a power up for the icons. I also gave everyone a power up who joined so far, for being 'early adopters' here. It's just for fun, doesn't really mean anything.

Great Icons... just what I had in mind. They work well with this theme also.
