Yeah, that's true, (no spoilers, but let's just say...) it's like winning Myst was really losing. I didn't find the game all that hard, though. Still it was a fun game, I wish I could get it, and Riven, to work with XP.

Now that I think about it, I did stumble across a game called "Final Destination" (I think, been a long while since I played it, and I don't think I have it anymore) once that intrigued me, as it seemed to have a storyplot that started out simple, but rapidly grew more and more complex. The puzzles varied in complexity. Can't tell you much more than that, as I only had the demo (and wasn't willing to pay to get the full version) but I think would've enjoyed the full game.

Yes, for 6 bucks each! I already have Myst and Riven, but I can't seem to get them working in XP. For that price, I might get them from GOG.

x2

My wife and I have an updated version of Myst, but we couldn't seem to get Riven working correctly.  It would be nice to play it again.

Some one on GOG mention a 'Real Myst', done in 3d.

And wasn't there a third game?

There were actually four (or perhaps five), as I recall... though I only played the first two.

I'm about half way through "Return to mysterious Island 2". The graphics and puzzles are just awesome but what really sold me was the first person 360 degree linear movement. Linear movement being my first love but not all games have that.  I think I'm going to order "Journey to the moon", "Dreamfall: the longest journey", and "Atlantis 3" just to keep them on hand. I find these games a relief when I have a spare moment.

I check the reviews before I buy to make sure the game's puzzles and story are fairly logical because, being a purist, I never cheat. I don't check online for walkthroughs or answers so I want some fairness when I get stuck.

Anyway, I really love this game.  :)
