Most iconic Descent song

I voted for D2, the song is the MIDI for the menu. Those drums. The build up. The epic. Dun, duhh, dn dn dun, duhh, dn dn dun, duhh... It just sounds like you are preparing for descent.

I'm going for Descent 2 and I really like the CD Sountrack (e.g. Definitive Collection).
And I can't think of anything else...

The title track for D1... There was a lot of anticipation built up then when your ready to play it would say 'Prepare For Descent!' before you teleport into the mine. Then you would be trapped in the mine until you blew the reactor, which would open the emergency exit. But then you had a limited time to get out. So you had to get psyched up first to go in. And listen to the music playing while getting ready.

I picked D1 for the whole soundtrack in general as I have a lot of favorite songs there, but they all come pretty close with each other when it really comes down to it. I think I have copies of nearly all the songs for all three games.

If we were to just pick one song from the three games that was an all-time favorite, though, that'd be different. For instance, for me, it'd be the soundtrack for the intro movie (and closing movie) of D2.  8)

But I guess doing a poll on something like that wouldn't be too practical, now would it? :P

True! The question is what is iconic, to me that means what represents Descent. And the title track of D1 does that for me best, it's what I hear when I think of playing Descent, even though I am most likely to play Descent 3.

Tough choice, but to me the one I that is the most “iconic” would be the main theme for Decent 1. To me it says “Prepare for Descent”. I use it for the alarm on my BlackBerry, gets me out of bed each morning.

The main theme for Descent 2 would be my close second choice.

Either that, or the D1 first level's tune (most frequently heard Descent tune other than the main tune, and menu tune).

But you know, the Descent 3 menu  tune/sounds is fairly iconic.  Though I probably wouldn't put it in any playlist.  Ever.

I've never been too too crazy about the first two descents, so I just picked D3.

I don't know if I've ever heard it. Make's it hard to fall under the iconic status if unique to Mac's, but I am curious. Anyplace I can hear a sample?  :-\

Hmmm.... I always thought the Mac redbook was the same as the PC redbook ...

Oh wait, we're talking about the D1 Mac redbook, not the redbook for D2.   Ah, the D1 'redbook' was actually the same music used for the Playstation version of Descent. .. I think.

Either way, I think I have a copy of it (actually, pretty sure I do ... but I could be wrong).

Ahhh! I was thinking about D2 redbook when I posted the 4th question! I'm sure that the PC and PS versions are the saim, but I've never heard of this mac version.

I used to have the mac version of D1 (actually, come to think of it, I think I still have the disk lying around somewhere) and was very familiar with it's Redbook soundtrack. I am about 75% sure that it's the same as the Playstation's, and I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't.
