What are some free games that can be downloaded then played without an internet connection? I do have lan with my kids, so not necessarily limited to single player. Until business picks up, though my internet connection is hit or miss. No work, no money, no internet. I can go to the library and download something, right now I am on a wifi I picked up but it's not reliable.
Other than Descent, of course.
I have some, though these are not free:
Freespace... I'll probably get crucified for saying this here, but... don't care for it too much.
Evil Genius... eh...
Roller Coaster Tycoon... I love this game, but, not for long.
Doom 3... eh, didn't even try to install on W7, I bought it because I wanted to try out (IIRC) Into Cerebon, that was a project to turn Doom3 into Descent. Then that project dried up before it was completed.
And I have a crap-ton of games that won't install on Windows 7. Like Myst and Riven, Darkseed.
And strangely enough, Roller Coaster Tycoon , the original, installs on my W7 laptop, my sons, nearly identical to mine, W7 machine, but not mine.
