D3 Mouse Reaction problem
«

Hi there, I hope you can help me!
I checked through all 'Technical" pages here and on GOG, but could not find a solution.
I installed Descent 3 (from CD), installed patch 1.5 and set up the Desktop link according to this:
http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Descent_3#Skip_launcher
Everything runs fine... except mouse control.
In menus, mouse reacts rather sluggish while in game I cannot control my ship smoothly, it reacts jerkily (which makes playing not very comfortable).
I'm running the game on Windows Vista 64bit.
I updated the drivers for my Logitech G500 to the latest Setpoint version 8.51.5 (
http://www.logitech.com/en-us/support/gaming-mouse-g500?section=downloads&osid=13&bit=32
).
I did not change any of D3's or Setpoints settings so far.

I must be the only guy who's never had trouble running D3 on modern systems.
Lucky me...
The only thing I can think of right off the bat is possibly turn down your mouse sensitivity or polling rate. It sounds to me like your mouse input is coming in too fast for D3 to keep up. But I could be absolutely wrong about that.

Well, definitely look into tweaking the mouse's sensitivity in any direction at least, as that might be all it is. Also check to see if you have mouselook turned on, as that might also be contributing to your in-game issues.
Can't help you much further than that.

Let me first say thanks to both you Kaiaatzel and Scyphi!
Let me experiment with the mouse sensitivity options a bit more...
Do you have V-Sync switched on or off? (could this even have an effect on my problem...?)
@Scyphi: Mouselook was indeed switched on... I changed it to "Flight Sim" and strangely enough, the problem of the jerky mouse behaviour decreased a LOT.

Since nobody seems to have a definite answer, I think the best bet is to start experimenting. Change one setting at a time, then observe the results.
Please keep us posted!

I have issues also with my G600 in Descent, although I only use it on menus.

Sorry for the delay and thanks for the welcome! It feels great that there's still so much interest from others for my beloved Descent series after all these years!
The change to Flight Sim mode (from Mouselook) really changed it for me and made D3 playable.
The mouse control is still sluggish in the menus but at least I can play now!
If that helps, in the Logitech Gaming software DPI sensitivity is set to 800 and the report rate to 500.
