Very interesting, yes, but the ending has me just a tad bit confused. Reading the article, it sounds like they are decoding the signals the brain is sending the phantom arm, and using that to position a virtual arm. Then at the end, they say they can't predict the position of the phantom arm.

I just read that part over again... it's talking about a different technique (motion controlled games like stuff on the Wii or Xbox Kinect) that doesn't work as well because it can't take the phantom limb into account.
