Topic: iPhone 5c, trying to get pictures and music on the phone

I am trying to get my music and pictures on my iPhone. Trouble is, i can't seem to do this. I have been trying to use iTunes to sync with the phone, but no luck. I must be doing something wrong.
I'm using an old Macbook, Linux Mint, Ubuntu, and Windows 8, and no real luck yet.

Is there a trick to this? I used to be able to do it quite easily.
