How many different systems can Descent be ported to?

Technically speaking, I think the PS1 games were completely different games, not ports :P The Wii version is probably not a port either (Surely a port would never take that long to make?)

I think part of what makes Descent so portable is its age. It uses minimal resources and no fancy effects that take a certain featureset to create. There are probably very few platforms that Descent CAN'T be ported to.

Not the first one.  Beyond some superficial menu differences, Descent for Playstation is exactly like the registered Descent for PC.

The Wii version shown here is not the Interplay version, but a fan-made port of it, for I think I've seen that vid before, and if so, it is a fairly direct port.

The point being made here, though, is that the game can be ported to just about anything now, and apparently fairly easily (making it all that more ironic that Interplay couldn't do it). Although that doesn't necessarily mean we ought to (while ports to things like the Android and iPad are impressive, the game doesn't work as well on those platforms, without either very elaborate controls, or watering it down significantly). Still...there really isn't any reason why we can't have Descent on a few other platforms these days.

If some one ported it to Google Glass, and used motion sensors and voice commands, then you made a map of your school or favorite mall, you could run through the halls making pew-pew noises to shoot up all the robots.

You'd have to use the camera to scan the locations of all the people to be robots. Then the teachers, or cashiers if your in the mall, would be the hostages.

Not a bad sounding idea, that Google Glass idea, but I'm sure there is someone out there that would question the ethics of it.  ::)
